Our Results: Ensuring Youth and Teens Succeed

Achieving Success in School, Life and Work.

In 2008, Valley of the Sun United Way-supported programs served over 97,000 youth throughout Maricopa County. Our partner programs provided over 42,000 hours of academic assistance and 196,000 hours of mentoring, as well as services that provided critically important skill-building and positive adult role-modeling. The ASPIRE program is just one example of how our dollars are making meaningful impact on the lives of youth who face multiple challenges.

ASPIRE provides education, job skills training and job placement for youth ages 14 to 21 living in poverty, 70% of whom have dropped out of school. The program focuses on re-engaging young people in education and assisting them in obtaining the job skills necessary to move out of poverty. ASPIRE’s results driven approach proves that with the proper support and encouragement, young people can achieve success in life, work and school.
