Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Each tax season, Arizona families miss out on millions of dollars in tax refunds because they are unaware of programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a refundable federal income tax credit eligible to low-income working individuals and families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to change this by providing families with the knowledge and guidance to lessen their financial burden. We rely on the following key sponsors whose funds help to make these efforts possible: Bank of America and Walmart.
About VITA
VITA programs around the state offer free tax preparation services to individuals and families with low or limited income, individuals with disabilities, senior citizens and military personnel and their families.
The IRS identified a gap in VITA sites available to residents in the West Valley. To help fill that gap, we formed partnerships with the appropriate businesses, education providers and non-profit organizations to support the creation of new West Valley VITA sites.
About EITC
A taxpayer must meet certain requirements and must file a tax return to qualify for this credit, even if his or her income is below that which mandates filing a tax return. Depending on income, EITC can be worth several thousand dollars. EITC provides more immediate financial assistance to working individuals and families in need than any other effort. Learn more.
