HUD Names VSUW MVP

On Sept. 15, VSUW received a 2011 Most Valuable Partner Award from HUD’s Phoenix Field Office for working to end homelessness. VSUW’s Tempe Pilot Project was recognized for supporting HUD’s initiative of Using Housing as a Platform for Improving Quality of Life. Katherine Cecala, chief operating officer, proudly accepted the award on behalf of our partners and VSUW.

The Tempe Pilot Project is a Permanent Supportive Housing project VSUW developed in partnership with the City of Tempe and the Arizona Department of Health Services that provides chronically homeless individuals with permanent housing and the necessary support services to help them maintain self-sufficiency. Providing permanent supportive housing is one of the key strategies VSUW is implementing to achieve its goal of ending homelessness in Maricopa County.
