Position Summary:
To identify, research and evaluate new and current donor prospects for the Principal Gifts team and Resource Development; to provide prospect research, donor cultivation and donor strategy documentation to the Executive team; to provide event planning and administrative support for the Principal Gifts team. The Principal Gifts team is responsible for the cultivation and growth of the Principal Gifts Program, Planned Giving, and Tocqueville Society donors. This team also interfaces directly and is part of the Resource Development department, which is responsible for the development and implementation of all aspects of Valley of the Sun United Way’s annual campaign. Initiates process improvements and takes an active role in developing new ideas and approaches to improve the team’s services and processes.
 

Summary of Responsibilities: 
• Proactively provide accurate and current prospect research profiles to the VP of Principal Gifts, SVP of Resource Development, and President of VSUW
• Responsible for timely input of new information into the Principal Gifts database
• Responsible for on-going, real-time maintenance of the Principal Gifts database
• Creates and maintains new and current prospect profiles
• Maintains accurate records / data for all Principal Gift donors and prospects
• Manage Principal Gifts acknowledgement process
• Manage Tocqueville Society Donor incentive program
• Manages and executes the logistics of Tocqueville Society events and activities; including venue selection, invitations, RSVP tracking, programs, vendor relations, contracts and all other event details
• Maintain accurate and current record of event attendees in database
• Initiates and responds to inquiries from high level donors and potential donors
• Prepares materials for on and offsite meetings as required
• Creates communications; including letters, memos, minutes, reports, meeting agendas, etc.
• Establishes and maintains both electronic  and paper filing systems for Principal Gifts and related areas
• Support pledge processing, gift distribution and Principal Gift renewal process
• Manage assigned budget lines to ensure project completion within budget
• Provide additional support to the Resource Development department and at VSUW events
• Assist with special projects as needed; perform additional tasks as needed
• Network and promote Valley of the Sun United Way at community functions
• Sensitivity and appreciation for policies of confidentiality

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
• Bachelors degree
• Five or more years experience in development or customer service environment or related field
o Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities to do the job
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License, proof of auto insurance coverage, daily access to personal vehicle
• Ability to work outside of 8:00 – 5:00 p.m. schedule

Physical demands and work environment:
• Work is performed primarily in an office setting and while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and demonstrate manual dexterity. 
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday.
