Position Summary: The person in this position is a member of the Resource Development department and is responsible for planning, organizing, reporting and auditing annual fundraising campaigns, while maximizing funds to support the work of Valley of the Sun United Way and establishing and stewarding Corporate Donor relationships.
Responsibilities Include:
· Primary responsibilities will include extensive contact with high level community and business leaders, United Way partner agencies, campaign coordinators and committee members, Loaned Executives and United Way staff on a year round basis.
· Recruitment, training and management of volunteers.
· Establishment of goals and objectives for improvement of campaign results.
· Extensive public speaking during annual campaign and as needed throughout the year
· Researching, testing and implementing strategies to improve campaign effectiveness and ensuring goals of the campaign are met.
· Keeping abreast of business and community affairs by attending appropriate meetings and seminars.
· Maintaining accurate corporate donor information.
· Ability to engage prospects and donors around the work of VSUW.
· Participation in monthly “Moves Management”/strategic prospect evaluations.
· Work closely with Tocqueville staff in the identification, cultivation and stewardship of potential and current Tocqueville members.
· Participate in activities that contribute, directly or indirectly, to the acquisition or retention of workforce Tocqueville members.
· Participate in activities that contribute, directly or indirectly, to the expansion of our Affinity Groups and Volunteerism program
· Duties will include additional projects and programs as determined by Vice President.
Skills & Abilities Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Two plus years of non-profit fund development or related field in a for profit environment
o The right combination of education and/or relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirements.
· Spanish language proficiency preferred.
· Sales and customer service background helpful.
· Excellent presentation and communication skills.
· Comfortable and fluent in a variety of social situations. · Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills. · Proven track record for presenting a case and securing a gift. · Demonstrated skills of creativity, resourcefulness and strategic thinking. · Demonstrated strengths in efficiency, timeliness, multi-tasking, and attention-to-detail. · Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues while accepting ultimate responsibility for tasks and efforts within their realm. · Maintain a positive mental attitude towards volunteers, donors, and VSUW at all times. · Commitment to continuous improvement. · Team player with proven conflict resolution skills. · Highly motivated self-starter. · Ability to facilitate and direct meetings/training sessions. Technical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requirements: · Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). · Ability to use the Internet and have a proven comfort level with learning new software applications as necessary. · Ability to maintain the integrity of the database and to provide support materials to development. Other Requirements: · Ability to work hours outside the standard 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM timeframe and to travel, if necessary. · Valid Arizona driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and daily access to personal vehicle. · Professional appearance and demeanor a must.
