Ms. Crawford is a great teacher, and she wants great things from her students. But the students she teaches at Manuel Peña Elementary School in west Phoenix have their challenges. Many live in poverty, and many of their families struggle to put food on the table.
After bouncing from shelter to shelter, Hannah found the services she needed to break the cycle of poverty. She was finally able to climb from the depths of chronic homelessness.
After losing the male role models in his home when he was young, the 19-year-old said he had no sense of direction. But despite a challenging home life and an ongoing health condition, he didn’t lose his dedication.
